Profile
ACE Tempest Reinsurance Ltd. (ACE Tempest Re Bermuda) is a global leader in the catastrophe reinsurance market, our success built on a combination of state-of-the-art analytical capabilities and a responsive, client-focused approach. Recent years have demonstrated that both the frequency and severity of catastrophes can have a devastating impact on insurer balance sheets. Our goal is to help our clients manage that risk by providing unsurpassed security and claims response.
Our underwriters utilize the most sophisticated techniques available for risk assessment and employ multiple event-based catastrophe simulation models to evaluate the loss potential of each risk assumed. For perils and regions where a robust vendor model is not available, we rely upon a proprietary exposure and experience model, developed over our fifteen year history.
We believe that our analysis is only as strong as the tools we use and the data we are provided. Our in-house research & development team works with our underwriters to evaluate the strengths and sensitivities of the models and to determine any adjustments that are warranted. In addition, we assess data quality issues and strive to gain a comprehensive understanding of a client’s exposures through extensive exposure profiling and mapping.
Our proprietary portfolio management system, Excalibur, helps us to streamline a complex and data intensive process allowing us to assess each risk as well as evaluate the amount of capital required to support it. We further stress test our portfolio by managing to worst case events. This highly technical approach combined with a measured willingness to lose ensures our interest in being a valued catastrophe reinsurance partner now and in the future.
We have successfully exported our analytical underwriting approach to non-catastrophe property & casualty business for the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific through ACE Tempest Re USA and ACE Tempest Re Europe .
